| The Keys to Your Heart
|
You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.
In love, you feel the most alive when your lover is creative and never lets you feel bored.
You'd like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring.
You would be forced to break up with someone who was insecure and in constant need of reassurance.
Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future... one you can grow with.
Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.
You think of marriage something you've always wanted... though you haven't really thought about it.
In this moment, you think of love as something you don't need. You just feel like flirting around and playing right now. |
REMEMBRANCE DAY also known as Poppy Day. The original name of the day internationally is a day to commemorate the sacrifice of veterans and civilians in World War I, World War II, and other wars. It is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918. The observance is specifically dedicated to members of the armed forces who were killed during war, and was created by King George V of the United Kingdom on 7 November 1919 (possibly upon the suggestion of Edward George Honey to Wellesley Tudor Pole, who established two ceremonial periods of remembrance based on events in 1917). Common British, Canadian, South African, and ANZAC traditions include two minutes of silence at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month because that was the time (in Britain) when the armistice became effective.
In Canada Remembrance Day is always preserved on 11 November at 11:00 AM, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. On this day, it is a holiday for federal government employees. However, for private business, provincial governments, and schools, its status varies by province. In Western and Atlantic Canada it is a general holiday. In Ontario and Quebec, it is not a general holiday, although corporations that are federally registered may make the day a full holiday, or instead designate a provincially-recognized holiday on a different day. Schools usually hold assemblies for the first half of the day or on the school day prior with various presentations concerning the remembrance of the war dead. Thousands of people gather near the National War Memorial in Ottawa. Among the crowd, war veterans pay their respects to fallen sailors, soldiers, and airmen.
The poppy's significance to Remembrance Day is a result of Canadian military physician John McCrae's poem In Flanders Fields. The poppy emblem was chosen because of the poppies that bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their red colour an appropriate symbol for the bloodshed of trench warfare. A Frenchwoman, E. Guérin, introduced the widely used artificial poppies given out today. Some people choose to wear white poppies, which emphasises a desire for peaceful alternatives to military action.

Thanksgiving
In Canada Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. Unlike the American tradition of remembering Pilgrims and settling in the New World, Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest. The harvest season falls earlier in Canada compared to the United States due to the simple fact that Canada is further north.
History of Thanksgiving
The history of Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to an English explorer, Martin Frobisher, who had been trying to find a northern passage to the Orient. He did not succeed but he did establish a settlement in Northern America. In the year 1578, he held a formal ceremony, in what is now called Newfoundland, to give thanks for surviving the long journey. This is considered the first Canadian Thanksgiving. Other settlers arrived and continued these ceremonies. He was later knighted and had an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean in northbrated on the second Monday in October. Unlike the American tradition of remembering Pilgrims and settling in the New World, Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest. The harvest season falls earlier in Canada compared to the United States due to the simple fact that Canada is further north.
WHEN I WAS A NEW TURKEY
When I was a new turkey, new to the coop, my big brother Mike took me out to the stoop. He sat me down, and he spoke real slow, told me there was something that I had to know.
His look and his tone I will always remember, when he told me the horrors of Black November: "Come about August, now listen to me, each day you'll get six meals, instead of just three. And soon you'll be thick where once you were thin, and you'll grow a big rubbery thing under your chin.
"And then one morning, when you're warm in your bed, in will burst the farmer's wife, and hack off your head! Then, she'll pluck out your feathers, so you're bald'n pink, and scoop out your insides, leave ya lyin' in the sink. And then comes the worst part, "he said, not bluffing, "she'll spread your cheeks and pack your rear with stuffing."
Well, the rest of his words were too grim to repeat; I sat on the stoop like a winged piece of meat. And decided on the spot, to avoid being cooked, I'd have to lay low and remain overlooked.
I began a new diet of nuts and granola, high-roughage salads, juice and diet cola. And as they ate pastries, chocolates and crepes, I stayed in my room doing Jane Fonda tapes.
I maintained my weight of two pounds and a half, and tried not to notice when the bigger birds laughed. But 'twas I who was laughing under my breath, as they chomped and they chewed ever closer to death.
And sure enough, when Black November rolled around, I was the last turkey in the entire compound. So now I'm a pet in the farmer's wife's lap; I haven't a worry, so I eat and I nap. She held me today, while sewing and humming, and smiled at me and said, "Christmas is coming."

Nikki Wester - Strawberry Kisses
from the bottom of my heart boy i've gotta tell you this since the day we've been apart you're the only one I miss i'm like a tree with no roots I just can't live without you, yeah yeah
thought we were just a summer romance nothing but a passing fling seemed my heart had other plans now i'm a puppet on a string don't leave me dangling out there boy can't you tell how much I care still see the sunlight in your hair, oh, oh
chorus: i've been missing your stawberry kisses cuz nothing's as sweet the taste still drives me crazy i've been wishing my strawberry kisses could fly through the wind to you from me
there's no question at all boy, your tops on my list i'm falling head over toes at the thought of your lips
I know you're cryin no no can't write those pretty words to show me how you feel deep inside -- but oh-oh
chorus: i've been missing your stawberry kisses cuz nothing's as sweet the taste still drives me crazy i've been wishing my strawberry kisses could fly through the wind to you from me
I know what i'll do once i find you you're gonna make me your girl youre gonna be mine even if I gotta search the whole world
chorus: i've been missing your stawberry kisses cuz nothing's as sweet the taste still drives me crazy i've been wishing my strawberry kisses could fly through the wind to you from me
This song is for Santos aka Andre B.
Are you lonesome Tonight
Are you lonesome tonight, do you miss me tonight? Are you sorry we drifted apart? Does your memory stray to a brighter sunny day When I kissed you and called you sweetheart? Do the chairs in your parlor seem empty and bare? Do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there? Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again? Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?
I wonder if you're lonesome tonight You know someone said that the world's a stage And each must play a part. Fate had me playing in love you as my sweet heart. Act one was when we met, I loved you at first glance You read your line so cleverly and never missed a cue Then came act two, you seemed to change and you acted strange And why I'll never know. Honey, you lied when you said you loved me And I had no cause to doubt you. But I'd rather go on hearing your lies Than go on living without you. Now the stage is bare and I'm standing there With emptiness all around And if you won't come back to me Then make them bring the curtain down.
Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again? Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

The aquarium had its share of troubles over the years including the still born death
of Hana's first calf in June 2006.
In 2001, Spinnaker, 20 years old male dolphin arrived from the Kaiyukan Aquarium in
Osaka, Japan. Spinnaker who is the father of the unborn dolphin.
In October 2005, Hana now 12 arrived from Japan where she was rescued from fishing
nets and rehabiltated at the Enoshima Aquarium.
Hana's behavior is showing evidence of change since the pregnancy "Much the same as
humans they might start acting differently, being a little less receptive to the males"
Hana continues to participate in public shows as a way to keep her exercised and mentally
stimulated. Her performance is affected by her pregnancy: her leaps tend to be lower and
she adjusts her body upon entry for more of a glide than a water-slap.
Hana is on a daily diet of about 8kgs of herring, squid and capelin.
Hana hit it off with Spinnaker right from the start. She is expected to give birth around August
after a gestation period of 11 to 12 months. Whether the other dolphins are present during the
birth depends on Hana's attitude towards them in the days leading up to the big event.
IN FLANDERS FIELDS
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Written by John McCrae
on May 3, 1915
A hug is a wonderful gift to share, A way to show each other that we care; There is so much a hug is able to do, When you feel those arms holding you.
A hug is a place to feel safe and warm, A comfort for a sad heart that is torn; An expression of the love in our heart, For ones who we wish, never to be apart.
A hug is a greeting when we meet to say hello, Or to say goodbye when we have to go; It can hold us up when life gets us down, And makes us smile, instead of frown.
A hug can be given for no reason at all, And given to those, both big and small; We're never too old to feel the joy it brings, As it is one of life's most pleasing things.
And for all of this beauty, a hug is free! It costs nothing, yet means so much to me; We should all hug another to show we care, For to feel a warm hug, nothing can compare. |
